In what is being dubbed the blowout of the year in NDRA charity games, the powerful Open B team showed no mercy against the hard working dads of the BenchWarmers team defeating them 6-1 in the 2nd Annual Golden Ring Charity Game on Tuesday.
With the Open B coach dumping out all the Benchwarmers water on the bench prior to the game and a parade of penalties on the Benchwarmers side that lead some to ask if the whistle had become frozen to the refs lips while he was breathing, the boys in blue and green stood no chance.
The Benchwarmers were obviously not accustomed to several rules, including the high sticking calls and the Open B team took full advantage of this lack of knowledge with better acting performances than Meryl Streep to draw all kinds of penalties leaving the poor BenchWarmers team short handed. The amazing performance of the BenchWarmers Goaltender Lui De Dominicis was no match for the Open B who were consistently on a Power Play.
The BenchWarmers will return to face their foes next year...and anything can happen.
The NDRA would like to thank all those who attended and donated to the Newmarket Food Pantry. Thanks to your donations we collected 650 lbs of food! A new record for the Golden Ring Charity game.
We'd also like to thank members of both teams who came out for a fun and entertaining game!
