Calling All Volunteers
On behalf of the NDRA Board I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope 2018 has started off well for all of you and your families. As we roll into 2018 and the second half of our season many of our teams have had great experiences in tournaments and throughout the regular season. We look forward to hosting our own tournament February 16th – 18th.
This event would not be possible without all of our volunteers. Our goal this year for the Ignite the Ice Tournament is to have all our ringette families participate. The impact of every family volunteering their time for just a few hours over the course of the weekend would be a tremendous benefit to the tournament. Volunteer opportunities include time keeping, score keeping, shot clock operating, assisting at the raffle table and the rinko game (which kids always have fun running). Don’t let a lack of experience prevent you from volunteering. Training and guidance will be provided for all of the activities for all of our volunteers.
The links for all volunteer opportunities can be found on our website.
Not only does the success of our tournament depend on volunteers, but the success of our association does as well. As we are in the second half of the 2017-2018 season we have already begun to plan for next year. Part of this planning includes inviting more of our ringette parents to contribute to the growth of the association by joining the board. Every year there are opportunities to join the board in different capacities.
The board is currently made up of many dedicated and long serving members, some of who are eagerly anticipating passing on their knowledge to new members. Similar to volunteering at the tournament, anyone who joins the board will be given training and guidance to help them enjoy and succeed in their role.
If you are hesitant about joining the board on your own, encourage a friend to participate with you in sharing a role or to take on their own role alongside of you.
The cornerstone of organizations like NDRA are its volunteers. This association cannot function without people dedicating time to provide their children the opportunity to continue to experience the enjoyment of ringette in Newmarket.
