Registration is Open for 2020-2021 Season
The first thing we can say is nothing about this season is certain but we and the rest of the province are proceeding one step at a time. NDRA has a Covid Safety Leader (CSL) in place, Sarah Thorne has joined our board and is willing to take on the task to help get NDRA through the requirements needed from the Government and Ringette Ontario to be approved to return to Ringette activities.
For us in Ringette there are many factors and we must wait on direction from those who make the decisions. This includes for us:
The Government of Ontario
Ringette Ontario
Town of Newmarket
What we at NDRA can do now is prepare for a variety of options based on the above groups. For us to start our planning and work with the governing bodies of Ringette Ontario and the Town of Newmarket we need to know what the members of NDRA are looking for. Ringette Ontario has made it clear that at the moment there are no releases for players to leave their associations and ALL players must register with their home association. As our sport progresses through the different stages and we are allowed to step on the ice and have group activities players MUST be registered with their home association.
We have opened our registration for all age levels and ask that everyone register before August 23 so we can confirm to the Town how much ice we may need and we can determine how many players we will have returning to the ice this season. There are many options available for NDRA once RO moves us into the stages to allow us back on the ice but we need to hear from our members if they will be playing this season.
Until we know how the year will play out, we cannot set any fees but as directed by RO we are asking for a deposit to cover the cost the association has to pay to RO to register each player with them. Registration will close August 23 to allow NDRA time to know how we can proceed and what options we have available to us. If you or your child may have any interest in playing this season you must register otherwise you will not be counted in NDRA's plan for return to play and not registered with RO and therefore not allowed to participate in any Ringette events with NDRA or any other association.
NDRA's goal is the same as RO, get everyone back on the ice as soon as it is safe and possible, so please register to make your intentions clear. RO & NDRA want to make sure that all players have a place if they wish but that starts with you the members and ensuring you are registered so NDRA can plan accordingly.
