COVID Updates
- The situation with COVID-19 has continued to evolve, and currently minimal restrictions are in place. The provincial government no longer requires masking, social distancing, or a mandatory 5-day quarantine period. The Newmarket and District Ringette Association (NDRA) recognizes that individuals may have varying comfort levels and risk-tolerance around potential exposures to COVID-19 and other illnesses. We continue to support masking by any individuals who may feel more comfortable doing so. We currently request that our members adhere to the following recommendations as it relates to illness and participation in ringette:
- If you are unwell (fever, respiratory symptoms), stay at home until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (48 hours if gastro-intestinal symptoms are present)
- If you test positive for COVID-19 on a PCR or Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and are symptomatic, stay at home until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (48 hours if gastro-intestinal symptoms are present). Upon return to ringette, maintain distance from teammates where possible, and wear a mask in areas of close, prolonged contact (i.e. the dressing room) for 10 days after the positive test
- Our aim is to offer as normal a season as possible, minimize the impact of contagious diseases on our teams and communities, and play as much ringette as possible. We encourage individuals with any contagious illness to remain at home while feeling unwell in order to promote their own quickest recovery and minimize potential infection of teammates, in keeping with the above recommendations. We will update these guidelines if any further recommendations are made by health authorities. We appreciate your ongoing support.
